A great day for labour and the environment
Last 10 October 2007 Comisiones Obreras held the first confederal congress of environmental reps. Around 500 people participated in this thrilling meeting which gave a sample of the extraordinary work the Spanish trade union has developed on environmental issues.
These environmental reps has been recognised through regional agreements (Navarra), sectoral agreements (chemical sector) or company agreements.
The congress was full of interesting trade union actions: from trade union intervention on waste management, to substitution of hazardous substances in the workplace, workers participation in company acquisition of environmental authorisations, mobility plans for workers, campaigns to oppose hazardous waste incineration or participation at the social dialogue tables to follow up the Kyoto Protocol.
Congratulations to all.
