Download here all presentations, organized by session: Session1: Presentation of the Agenda Presentation of the Conclusions and Action Plans of the ITUC – Asia Pacific Regional Conference on Environmental Protection, Sustainable Development and Employment, Bangkok, 25-26 March 2008. Session 3: Labour situation, environmental challenges and health related problems: facts and figures in A general overview of the labour situation in Some of the major health challenges for workers and their communities in the region. It will further advance on identifying the obstacles for the recognition of a “safe and healthy working environment” as a fundamental right, and the new challenges that climate change is posing to health in the communities. A general overview of major environmental health challenges in Asia Pacific, particularly those associated to air pollution, waste and climate change, and also it will be introduced the Regional Forum on Environment and Health in the South East and East Asian Countries. Session 4: Climate change: adaptation and mitigation policies Climate Change impacts on Asia-Pacific Climate Change and mitigation: presentation of the Eco-life21 to reduce energy consumption from heating systems and air conditioners. Session 5: Introduction to climate change Projection of video “An inconvenient Truth” Session 6: Climate Change and Employment Looking at the major impacts of climate change by sectors, and addressing the consequences of mitigation and adaptation policies on employment. Forestry and climate change: Deforestation is contributing to climate change, as well as causing other environmental effects as soil erosion. But, it is an income source for some population. BWI is promoting an initiative that joins and covers both challenges to ensure a sustainable forestry for a decent and sustainable work. Session 7: Introduction to sound and sustainable management of chemicals Workers are at the front-line of exposure to hazardous chemicals in the workplace. Sustainable development can only be attained with a safe and healthy occupational environment, more environmentally friendly. The purpose of this session is to introduce to the health and environmental impacts of hazardous chemicals and to move forward strategies on sound and sustainable management of chemicals. Chemical Risk: actions developed at workplace and national level, mainly on the electronic sector, to minimize the impacts of hazardous chemicals on occupational health and the environment. Session 8: Working Group on Climate Change Session 10: Presentation of other Trade Union experiences on Labour and the Environment The purpose of this session is to get to know different types of experiences promoted by Trade Unions participants at this seminar. Session coordinated by Ching Chabo, Director of the Research and Information Department of the International Trade Union Confederation. Session 11: Framework agreements. Working on Labour and Environment issues on Multinationals. In a globalised economy, Trade Union tools need to become also global and this is the objective of global framework agreement, based on the importance of creating trade union alliances, bringing together all unions in any company. We will have a look at different examples, with a particular insight to those that are containing environmental clauses. Session 12: Green Jobs for Presentation of the Report “Green Jobs: towards sustainable work in a low-carbon world” (September 2008) as part of The Green Jobs Initiative, a joint initiative mounted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Employers Organisation (IEO) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). The initiative has been launched to assess, analyze and promote the creation of decent jobs as a consequence of the environmental policies that are necessary to build a sustainable world over the long term.
