This section intends to present information and working guidelines on alternatives to the use of Persistent Organic Pollutants.

At the moment, it is just presented a general structure on Alternatives, but with time and your contribution, it is expected this section will provide you a more extensive and in detail information.

Reduction and/or elimination of POP pesticides, as mandated by the Stockholm Convention, provide an opportunity and a challenge to re-think strategies to move towards sound environmental management of chemicals. Indeed, this is not merely a question of “replacing chemical A with chemical B”. The elimination of POPs is an entry point to building sustainable solutions.
Article 11 – Research, development and monitoring, Stockholm Convention on POPs
The parties shall, within their capabilities, at the national and international levels, encourage and/or undertake appropriate research, development, monitoring and cooperation pertaining to persistent organic pollutants and, where relevant, to their alternatives and to candidate persistent organic pollutants [...]
